How to Treat Psoriasis Effectively

Did you know that 1 in 50 people suffer from psoriasis? This is easily one of the most common of all skin conditions among adults. This skin problem can be painful, itchy and uncomfortable not to mention unsightly. The good news is that you can treat psoriasis.
Psoriasis can appear all over the body but is most commonly found on the knees, elbows and scalp. These patches are red with silvery scales and it can even affect your nails, leaving them pitted or thickened.
While there is no total cure for this inherited condition there are things you can do to prevent and treat psoriasis. There are oral and injectable medications that can be administered for those with the worst cases and even light therapy has been shown to make a big difference.
Many sufferers have found that stress can seriously add to the problem of psoriasis so you should do what you can to keep stress levels at a minimum. You may want to try meditation and yoga or even just regular exercise to keep your hormones flowing well.
Psoriasis tends to be worse during the dry winter months so you may want to invest in a humidifier such as the Sunpentown Ultrasonic Humidifier SU-2000. This can really help with the dryness and the itching associated with psoriasis.
Steering clear of soap is another sure fire way to help your skin condition. Choose a tar based product to cleanse the skin. You may also want to use special shampoos like Philip B Anti Flake Relief Shampoo for the scalp flaking and itching.
The ATOPALM Sensitive Skin Repair Kit is another winner and it comes with all kinds of goodies for your daily hygeine. This kit includes:
* ATOPALM MLE Face Cream
* ATOPALM MLE Body Lotion
* ATOPALM Facial Foam Wash
* ATOPALM Body Wash
And as a secret weapon to treat psoriasis you need a special moisturizer for your skin. One of the most recommended products is Oxipor VHC Psoriasis Lotion. This is a powerful moisturizer containing coal tar to get the cells back to reproducing properly.
